Ha ha, get it, Sorry. I do enjoy my own puns a little too much sometimes.
Running repairs, sigh. Anyway, I had to fix the old running shoes a few weeks ago. I suppose I could do with a new pair but that’s a bit out of my budget at the moment, plus they’re all broken in and incredibly comfortable now and I don’t like waste.
I have revisited the glue job today as there’s a small section on the left shoe that I didn’t touch at the time of the original repair that has since worked its way loose. Once I’ve glued down this bit of flippy sole I’m sure I’ll get many more miles out of them. The glue was only a fiver in Salisbury. I assumed I’d end up going to the hardware shop for an appropriate adhesive but as I was in the supermarket I thought I’d have a look and Bob’s your uncle.

As you can see it’s a Unibond super flexible adhesive called Repair Extreme, for the life of me I don’t know why they didn’t name it Extreme Repair, to my mind that would be preferable but I’m not in marketing so what do I know. They did get the images right as far as I’m concerned though. The photo of the walking shoe repair on the front swung the sale for me.

I did the usual pre-glue cleaning, pulled the sole away were it was loose, scrubbed the whole area with a tooth-brush and washing up liquid, scrubbed with clean water and then rinsed it and left it to dry thoroughly before I glued it. I also made sure to leave them twenty-four hours before using them again to make sure the glue had gone off.
So far I have no regrets. The original repair has lasted over one hundred miles and shows no sign of giving up, just like me. Yay. So I would recommend Unibond super flexible adhesive, Repair Extreme! And yes you do have to use your best voice over guy impression when you say that.
Happy trails.
Shelley.
